Even after 4 days this still looked sprightly and youthful – Orange Chardonnay can be a lively beast and this is a particularly smart example
An utterly modern cool climate Chardy, this couples twiggy, grapefruity fresh fruit with underplayed oak. Like many of the new generation Orange Chard, the nose shows more yeast action than oak, which I think works to give freshness and vitality, if making for a very tight wine.
Tightness drives the palate too, which is long but lean, all grapefruit and apple juice acidity with just enough richness to pull the mid palate together.
High quality wine, if just a little tight for immediate consumption, there is much to like here.
Drink: 2013-2019
Score: 18.2/20, 93/100+
Would I buy it? I’d share a bottle without hesitation
