Craggy Range Avery Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2014
I intended to write it up for World Sauvignon Blanc day (which was a week or so back), however a thoroughly demoralising afternoon bracket of Aussie/Kiwi Pinot Gris left me in desperate need of beer, not Sauvignon Blanc.
This wasn’t much chop either.
Green yellow straw. Sweaty nose with a real peppery capsicum aggressive edge. The palate too feels aggressive and raw, the passionfruit and grippy acid hitting you like a wall. It’s a full on Sauv, but also a hard wine to really like. Too many hard edges, not enough delicacy.
Not a fan. It’s intense, which drives the score up, but little joy in the drinkin’.
