Ten Minutes by Tractor McCutcheon Chardonnay 2013
Ten Minutes by Tractor do it again. Some of the ’13 Mornington wines can look a little baked, with the dry and early vintage delivering notably ripe wines. But this is different.
From a block planted in 1993 on the southern slopes of Main Ridge which faces NE. It is TMBT’s highest Chardonnnay block. Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, with wild fermentation and 9 months maturation in barrel.
A much tighter wine than the Wallis, this has a line of toast and caramel, but the zingy acidity and some phenolic grip makes this very serious. Long, grippy and sparkling acidity. What power! A big nose and entry but then tightens up noticeably through the finish. Complexity aplenty in a full tilt style. A standout for the vintage. Best drinking: 2016-2022. 18.5/20, 94/100. 13.6%, $65. Would I buy it? Sure would
