Marko’s Vineyard Point Eight Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2015
I was critical of the last release from Marko’s Vineyard, but this Shiraz is much better. From a 23yr old Vineyard owned by Matthew Hill Smith in the Adelaide Hills. TA 6.15g/L. pH 3.5. 1200 bottles made.
Vibrant purple coloured, it smells every bit the polished Hills Shiraz in a light and spicy form. Ripeness seems about perfect and the fine spicy flavours are quite appealing. It’s just a little tart with a very late suggestion of greenness, but there is some style here. Good, modern Hills Shiraz, if just a fraction lean through the finish. Best drinking: 2017-2027. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14%, $42. Would I buy it? I’d go a glass.
