Soul Growers Provident Shiraz 2016
A slightly blunter Provident this year. It’s bright purple and juicy, the oak a coffeed edge too what is otherwise a generous and fruity forward wine. Pulpier and more juicy, the acid seems spikier (which would explain the brightness) too and it feels a little worked and less soulful – where is that savouriness? Still appeal here, but I’ve liked other vintages much more. Best drinking: Now to ten years. Will likely get better. 17/20, 90/100. 14.5%, $28. Would I buy it? Not at the moment.
