Terre à Terre Wrattonbully Rouge 2015
The more approachable end of the Terre à Terre range. But it still needs more time.
A blend of Shiraz/Cabernet/Cab Franc in proportions of 44/36/20. Spends 8 months in old barrique and 14 months in a 2yo foudre. 590 dozen produced.
It’s a structured wine made for the future. Dusty nose, but backed by a richer palate of cassis fruit and a nice choc mint core. There’s a regal, Bordeaux-ness to the latent power here, but it’s just a little warm edged and glycerol tipped. The length, however, is spot on, which only bodes well for the future. Best drinking: I’d wait five years. It will live for fifteen. 17.5/20, 91/100+. 14.5%, $32. Would I buy it? Not yet.
