As I mentioned in the Silkwood review, I can skip most WA Pinot. There are exceptions (like the odd Picardy Pinot), but the generalisation stands. Anyway, this single vineyard Apricus Hill Pinot Noir 2018 is an easy drink, which is all that counts.
Juicy cherry spice fruit is the hero here. It’s more syrupy than you really want but the brightness and the vibrancy makes it good drinking, the hints of bark and mulch adding varietal character. Maybe I’m being harsh – this is approachable, light to medium bodied, red-fruited Pinot that you could enjoy mindlessly. Best drinking: nowish. 17/20, 90/100. 14%, $35. Would I buy it? A glass.
