The Ridge of Tears range is Logan’s Shiraz highlights package, with both an Orange release and another from Mudgee. I like them both, although this Logan Ridge of Tears Orange Shiraz 2019 is going to take a little longer to come around.
From a vineyard at 970m. Ripe enough it is too, which is welcome for a 13% alcohol red. Mint, roses, a whisper of sage, the palate is just medium bodied, oak gives background richness, the palate cool and sophisticated. It’s maybe missing some oomph, but there’s a real sleekness to this wine. Almost Cornas like on the finish. Acidity is spot on too. Hold for next year, there’s growing quality here.
Logan Ridge of Tears Orange Shiraz 2019. 18/20, 93/100+. 13%, $55. Logan website. Would I buy it? I’d share a bottle.
