How much patience do you have? Whatever the answer, you’ll need it with this Meerea Park Alexander Munro Aged Release Semillon 2012. From the famously wet 2012 vintage, this is a really backward wine that is going to need another five years to come around. Probably more. It’s a little reductive too, which lops off the fruit even more. Underneath it’s diving into lanolin and biscuit with some green apple fruit, but also the herbal edge of the vintage. No cabbage or green pea, though, which is the other 2012 stamp. You can see the herbal edge on the palate too, with greenish acidity to back it up. The length says high quality, and there is flavour intensity. But it’s not an easy wine for drinking now. My score is a nod to the length. Best drinking: see above. 17.5/20, 91/100+. 10%, $80.
