Every vintage, the Ringbolt picks up a high score or a show medal somewhere, and you can guarantee this Ringbolt Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 should too.
It is a very well-priced, honest, proudly regional Margaret River Cabernet. End note. Classic nose – bay leaf, a little mint, dark berries, chocolatey too. The dark chocolate mint carries the length of the palate, tending to chewy caramel on the finish. Impressive concentration and regional charisma at this price that’s the tagline. Just a smidgen eucalypty? So much flavour and depth, though. The tannins are a bit industrial but bow down before the king of Margs Cabernet QPR (when it can be bought for $23 a bottle retail).
Best drinking: over the next decade. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14%, $30. Ringbolt website (via Smith’s Wine Store). Would I buy it? Sure would.

Andrew – if you haven’t already, I hope one day you get an opportunity to savour a Ringbolt 21 Barriques Cab Sav. I have 2011 in my cellar and it is drinking perfectly now.
Great time to drink it too.
Absolutely agreed, I have three bottles left of the six I bought and anticipate drinking them by Christmas 2024.
