There so many wines out there that I hear about/keep meaning to try but never get there. Like the Phase Three Dero wines, as an example. Brendan Hilferty’s Sparrow & Vines wines fall into that bucket too, but after running into him at a trade tasting, he kindly popped this red and another white in the post. Problem solved.
Anyway, the Sparrow & Vine Barossa Grenache 2022 is a blend of Eden & Barossa Valley fruit that spent 5 months in old oak. It’s gloriously vibrant drinking too – so incredibly smashable. All blood orange and raspberry with a lofi unforced vibe, but the depth of serious fruit. A real unadorned red raspberry Grenache vibe, but with fine tannins and depth. So good and balanced and right.
Best drinking: good now. 18/20, 93/100. 13.8%, $33. Sparrow & Vine website. Would I buy it? Sure would.
