Taylors Jaraman Shiraz 2007 (Tasting Notes)

Taylors Jaraman Shiraz 2007 (Clare Valley & Mclaren Vale, SA)
$26, Screwcap, 14.5%

Source: Trade Sample

Not a bad showing, all things considered, but gee 07 is shaping up to be a tough vintage in Clare/Barossa et al.

Stewed fig & raspberry, bitumen nose, just a bit volatile and stewed on the nose but still consciously ripe and luscious. Somewhat dead, raspberry fruit palate still shows an inch of freshness over the wines from earlier in the week. Sweeter fruit and some more clever oak is the saviour here. Quite a tough finish, with prickly heat.

Just a tad hard to love. 15.2

Just cracked a bottle of this, given as a gift from the company that built our new home.

I like a nice drop of red. And this, I would have to say, obviously not being a wine buff such as yourself, was quite nice.

both myself and the better half really enjoyed it.

She said to mention you are a pretentious prick and would you wine buffs simply learn to enjoy wine instead of writing crap about it.

How's this for a tasting scale?

Nice or not nice.
Buy or don't buy.

On our scale we say it's a "nice" and give it 2 thumbs up!

Good scale. I like it. This Jaraman is a 'not buy' on my scale, but if gifted a bottle I'd drink it anyway :)
